SARCOA is seeking volunteers to work with the Ombudsman Representative Friendly Visitor Program. This is an unpaid position that will assist SARCOA’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman. The goal of the program is to support nursing home and assisted living facility residents by providing increased contact and interaction with the Ombudsman office.

Successful candidates for the volunteer position must be empathetic and have good communication skills. Individuals selected will routinely go into nursing homes and assisted living facilities to distribute Ombudsman materials, visit with the residents, and report any complaints back to the SARCOA Ombudsman. Volunteers selected will undergo volunteer orientation and training at SARCOA before they begin their new adventure. A tuberculosis (TB) screening, a statewide criminal background check, and other mandatory background checks will also be required. Costs associated with mandatory testing and checks will be paid by SARCOA.

This is a wonderful opportunity to make a difference while working around your own schedule. Please consider making this investment in improving the lives of our seniors.
