The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Program is a 6-week community-based physical activity and self-management education program. While walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multi-component program that also includes health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies. SARCOA is pleased to offer Walk With Ease to our 7-County region that we serve. This is a self-directed program so you can start as slowly or progress as quickly and safely possible. Walk With Ease is proven to:
- Reduce pain and discomfort from arthritis.
- Increase balance, strength, and walking pace.
- Build confidence to be active.
- Improve overall health.
During the 6 weeks, participants will:
- Understand the basics of arthritis, and the relationship between exercise and arthritis pain management.
- Practice methods to make walking fun.
- Exercise safe and comfortably.
- Make a personal walking plan and goals.
- Learn about other programs to maintain physical activity.
